Composite Technician Overview:
As a Composite Tech you will perform a wide variety of hands-on composite plying, layup, fabrication, and assembly tasks.
Duties:
- Build and fabricate composite parts and structures according to specifications
- Operate machinery and tools for cutting, shaping, and machining composite materials
- Follow established procedures and work instructions to ensure quality and accuracy
- Perform material handling tasks, including moving and organizing composite materials in the warehouse
- Conduct inspections and tests to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Read written instructions, detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations
- Cutting and trimming of composite parts per close tolerances using hand tools such as hand router, hand drill, hand sander and inspection equipment
- Structural bonding and fastening of composite assemblies, including surface preparation for bonding
- Identify defects in layup including bridging, FOD, air pockets, wrinkles, etc.
- Prepare tooling before releasing to layup department.
- Assist with stamping and logging phase of each project/individual tooling.
- Layup structures by following laser projected blueprints
Experience:
- Previous experience in composite manufacturing or related field preferred
- Knowledge of composite materials, processes, and techniques
- Familiarity with carpentry and machining tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
