The Quality Technician tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Performs a wide variety of duties aimed at supporting the quality requirements of our customers by monitoring production from start (lacquer coating) to finish (slitting) and successful converting by the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Job Duties:
· Select products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
· Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
· Manage “Material Rejection Report” (MRR) system including:
o overseeing and monitoring the process for proper procedures
o determining, along with operations team, the proper follow through and management of out-of-specification material
o outlining corrective action steps along with team leaders
o follow through with customer support group (regarding schedule and
quantity issues) and customers (regarding acceptance of out-of-
specification material) where necessary
· Maintain, inspect, calibrate and oversee all analytical devices including equipment in the paper test laboratory, balances throughout the plant, offline devices such as gloss meters, resistivity gauges, relative humidity gauges.
· Record test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
· Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Complete customer COA/COC and Audit data/testing as required.
· Administer the Factory Calibration Program for all gauges.
· Maintain label roll database through daily disposition of defective material according to approved practices.
· Provide troubleshooting and real-time problem solving related to quality issues. Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of processes/equipment capability.
· Maintain Environmental log data accuracy integrity and work with Health and Safety Manager.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
· Proven experience in quality inspection and assurance.
· Ability to conduct thorough quality audits and implement corrective actions.
· 3-5 years Quality Assurance & Quality Inspector experience in manufacturing preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze data.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated problem solving capability.
· Must display initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Work in a fast-paced team environment.
· Project management experience
· A High school diploma required; 2-year technical degree in engineering technology or equivalent preferred.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
