Primary Responsibilities
The Program Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Community Based Programs to implement and deliver essential sexual health, public health, linkage, and navigation services to youth. The Program Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing resources for the youth services department, while directly managing the Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) program, and leading a team of Health Educators, Senior Youth Support Specialists, Coordinators, Peer Educators, and youth of various ages.
The Program Manager will be responsible for overall health communication activity on social media platforms, and teaching about behaviors that promote adolescent wellness and healthy decision making. The Program Manager will use appropriate strategies, and methods to facilitate health promotion and sexual risk avoidance, and must have a thorough understanding of the diverse populations of youth served by DCS.
Functional Responsibilities :
- Works with Diaspora’s school partners; community-based and faith-based organization partners to conduct evidence-based adolescent health workshops (individual or series of workshops) designed to educate youth on adolescent sexuality topics for the purpose of sexual risk avoidance and self-confidence to improve life outcomes.
- Assist the Senior Manager of Community Based Programs in establishing and implementing policies and procedures consistent with the CAPP and DCS goals.
- Supervise a team of Health Educators, Peer Educators, and Male Youth Involvement Coordinator.
- Oversees and conducts classroom presentations as well as parent and community workshops and events.
- Ensures that all CAPP team members complete orientation and training including mandatory online implementation training prior to delivering evidence-based programming.
- Contributes to the development and improvement of program services to meet or exceed all contracted and/or mandated objectives and goals of CAPP and DCS.
- Completes and submits all required workshop evaluation summary reports, pre and posttests to Senior Manager of Community Based Programs on a regular basis.
- Completes quarterly and program required reporting.
- Plans, coordinate and manage resources for DCS youth participants and increase education and healthcare access for youth in CAPP and DCS residential programs.
- Stays current on all curricula updates, training, and research necessary to maintain quality teaching.
- Assist in program evaluation through the entry of program records.
- Participate in creating promotional and educational materials for the CAPP program.
- Engage in public relations through the promotion of DCS Youth Services in various events and public speaking opportunities.
- Attend all meetings, training, collaborative efforts and other program and agency-related functions as instructed by the Senior Manager of Community Based Programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Health Education, Public Health or related field; Masters preferred.
- 2 years’ experience managing a program or supervising staff preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish or Haitian-Creole speaking preferred.
- Ability to facilitate discussion/teach classes to youth in a variety of settings on sexual risk avoidance.
- Experience working with youth and demonstrated ability to be inclusive and non-stigmatizing in their role.
- Knowledge of or experience with priority population to be served and community.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
- Able to listen well, accurately communicate ideas, and to work well in a team.
- Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
