We are seeking an experienced bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping practices, with a meticulous attention to detail. The bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements for our clients. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a high level of integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
- Conduct monthly and year-end closing procedures
- Monitor and analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or issues
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve accounting-related queries
- Stay up to date with accounting principles and regulations
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a bookkeeper or similar role
- Solid understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Wave)
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and other spreadsheet tools
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Five + years of experience in nonprofit bookkeeping/accounting
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, Certified Public Accountant, Enrolled Agent, Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant/Preparer) are a plus
Compensation is based on experience, with a minimum starting wage of $20 per hour. This is a temp-to-hire position. Benefits after 90-days of permanent employment include medical, dental, paid vacation and PTO, and 3% retirement match.
