Development
- Brand Development: Develop and maintain the city's brand identity, ensuring consistency
across all marketing channels. Create compelling narratives that highlight the city's strengths,
culture, and values.
- Economic Development: Partner with EDC to promote investment, foster entrepreneurship,
and support business growth and MOME the city as a vibrant hub for innovation, talent, and
opportunity.
- Partnership Development: Forge strong partnerships with public and private entities, like
advertising / media agencies, all media leaders (example GMs / ownership of any NYC
mediums), corporations, venture capital firms, industry associations, and government agencies
at the local, national, and international levels to leverage resources, share best practices, and
drive collaborative initiatives for economic development and innovation.
Marketing
- Marketing Strategy: Develop comprehensive marketing strategies to reinforce the value of life
in NYC, attract tourists, investors, businesses, and residents to the city.
- Central Marketing Assets: Assess all the City’s media marketing vehicles and create a new
system for using them efficiently and effectively to message New Yorkers and / or target key
audiences and demographics. Possibly housed at DCAS.
- Digital Marketing: Interface, leverage, centralize, and grow digital marketing efforts, including
website management, social media engagement, email marketing, and online advertising
campaigns to engage with audiences and promote city research, events, initiatives, and
attractions.
- Public Relations: Coordinate with Communications to support short and long-term messaging.
- Community Engagement: Partner with CEC to engage with residents, community organizations,
and neighborhood groups on “kitchen table” level to, again, put forth the single messaging yet
ensuring marketing efforts reflect the diverse interests and priorities of the city's population.
Solicit feedback, address concerns, and foster a sense of pride and belonging among residents.
Research & Reporting
- Market Research: Monitor the pulse of NYC brand and administration’s effectiveness through
quantitative and qualitative research including focus groups, one-on-ones, ethnographies,
surveys, data analytics and more, to inform decisions on voice, look and feel, to value of the
administration through a lens of evidence-based, data-driven insights.
- Performance Measurement and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and
metrics to evaluate the impact of marketing initiatives. Regularly monitor progress, analyze
data, and prepare comprehensive reports to communicate achievements, challenges, and
recommendations to city leadership and stakeholders.
