Maintenance – Sierra Canyon
Equus Management Group is looking for a full-time, 40 hours a week, Maintenance person to join our family at our Sierra Canyon Location. The perfect candidate is outgoing, a multitasker, and enjoys a fun and fast-paced environment.
Job Summary:
The job includes responsibilities for a variety of work activities performed for the Sierra Canyon Association (SCA). Most work will be in and around the SCA lodge, although outdoor maintenance and clean-up projects are occasionally needed. Lodge maintenance will be for the entire building, with specific focus on operations of a Fitness Room, Locker Rooms, Restrooms, Kitchen and other Lodge space. Work includes routine set up and storage of furniture and equipment for community activities and meetings. This job holder may also be asked to provide substitute clerical and administrative work during vacations and absences of other employees
This employee will open the Lodge and begin daily operations promptly by 6:00 AM each Monday through Friday, preparing and maintaining operations as the sole staff person on-site until the 8:00 AM arrival of other employees. The workday will be 6:00 AM-3:00 PM daily, with a lunch break.
The jobholder will report to, and work under the supervision of an on-site Manger.

Maintenance Responsibilities:
- The Maintenance Person is responsible for the maintenance duties of Associations involving mostly carpentry, painting, plumbing repairs, electrical repairs and minor roofing repairs in addition to other exterior responsibilities to guarantee that the communities we manage are properly and safely maintained
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings do not deteriorate
- Perform maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs to ensure that the building is properly maintained
- Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters and drains
- Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on systems & equipment as needed
- Conduct rounds of the common areas to ensure cleanliness and functionality
- Immediately correct or cause to be corrected any unsafe conditions throughout the property, including but not limited to broken steps, open holes, broken/burned out exterior lights, etc.
- Paint curbs, hydrants, gates, fences, etc. on a continuous, rotating basis
- Trim shrubs, sweep and clean walkways in all common areas
- Minor spraying for insects on an as-needed basis
- During pool season - Maintain and add pool chemicals, check restroom for trash and cleanliness, clean pool furniture, check all clocks every morning, open/close the pool at start/end of the season
- Maintain and repair doors, door closures and gates
- Perform any necessary fence repairs in common areas
- During winter season - Snow removal and ice melt application as needed within common areas
- Repair gutters throughout the community on an as-needed basis
- Perform regular inspections throughout the property to identify deterioration, wear, potential failure and potential liability and take necessary steps to correct and/or inform management
- Work closely with third party contractors to ensure all systems are in proper working order at all times
- Perform any other general maintenance tasks and projects as directed by management.
- Provide supervision with a weekly action list of completed work/projects each Friday
- Other duties as assigned
- Typical outside work environment year-round (frequent standing, walking, lifting and/or
- operating powered equipment using proper safety techniques or tools), exposure to elements like
- rain, heat or cold
- Overtime may-be required
Opening for Lodge Daily Operations:
- Lodge opening activities include unlocking the building, deactivating alarms, greeting early building users, making coffee, checking all rooms for cleanliness, cleaning as needed.
- Seasonal activities will also include light snow removal and ice control of Lodge walkways and parking areas as well as leaf and debris removal as needed.
- Other opening operations as needed and specified by Sierra Canyon Community Manager.
Fitness Room Operations:
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, and other operations of the Lodge Fitness room.
- Report major equipment problems to the Community Manager.
Equipment Set-Up and Storage for Meetings and Recreational Activities.
- Provide routine daily set-up, removal and storage of furniture and equipment used for community meetings and activities, including television and sound equipment.
- Complete minor repairs of equipment as needed.
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies; order replacements as needed.
Other Duties:
- Uses safety equipment such as goggles, respirators, gloves, and protective apparel as needed during the performance of duties.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Community Manager.
Requirements/Qualifications. A successful job candidate:
- Is able to work flexible and/or variable hours when needed.
- Maintains an even and pleasant disposition when dealing with residents, co-workers, vendors, and others.
- Works as a team-player with other employees, resident volunteers, and vendors; empowers and supports other employees in completing their work.
- Has good knowledge and skills of cleaning and maintenance applications including but not limited to power tools, hand tools, and other small equipment.
- Has or develops knowledge and understanding regarding the appropriate use of flammable liquids and other combustible or hazardous materials, including proper storage and disposal.
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
Other:
- Successful candidate may also be offered an opportunity to become a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and obtain new skills and experience with swimming pool operations.
- Successful candidate agrees to undergo a background check and testing for drug use.
