Job Title: ADVENTURE LAB DIRECTOR
JOB SUMMARY: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for the Adventure Lab - a dynamic learning environment that guides and encourages students of all ages and abilities to develop and fulfill their personal potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the COO. Essential functions of the role may include but are not limited to the following:
Sales
•Actively promote use of the Adventure Lab & Great Lakes Adventures (GLA) to a variety of audiences, includingschools, community groups, Scouting units, and corporate partners.
•Participate in meetings with donors, stakeholders, and community leaders to promote the Adventure Lab and GLA.
•Attend educator conferences and other events to promote programs and develop new business relationships.
Preparation
•Develop innovative lesson plans that focus on giving young people a hands-on learning experience whileincluding leadership training, team building, and fun.
•Take leadership over creating material lists, ordering necessary supplies, and managing the day-to-day operationof a multi-classroom learning environment.
Implementation
•Give leadership to an instructional team of staff and volunteers, delivering high-quality educational experiencesfor youth ages K-12 in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment.
•Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning, personally and/orthrough a team of instructors; Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
•Manage learner behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures; maintain discipline in accordancewith the rules and disciplinary systems of the organization.
Leadership
•With the COO, identify, interview, and hire additional instructors as needed.
•Train and coach additional part-time Instructors and volunteers in delivering consistent programming.
•Participate in Lake Erie Council / Great Lakes Adventures meetings, events, and activities as needed.
•Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
•Prepare Lab for activities; Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
Other functions of the role include but are not limited to the following:
•Provide support to major events of the Lake Erie Council / Great Lakes Adventures, some of which include nights and weekends.
•Other duties as assigned.
Expectations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
•B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
•Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
•Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
•Must be willing to work a varying schedule, including afternoon/evening shifts most weekdays and some weekend programs and events.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
