Duke Energy will offer relocation assistance if you are selected for the role and do not live within a reasonable commute of the work location. The physical work locations will be Duke Energy’s Edwardsport Integrated Gasification Combined Cyle (IGCC) located in Knox County, Indiana.
Edwardsport’s 618-megawatt IGCC facility
is one of the cleanest and most efficient coal-fired power plants in the world. Facility is located near Terre Haute, IN, Bloomington, IN, and Evansville, IN.
Manage aspects of Mechanical Integrity program related to pressure relieving devices, fixed equipment, and rotating equipment and in accordance with API standards.
Manages equipment MI inspection activities and inspection contractors.
Works within a PSM Facility and following PSM Guidelines
Conducts quality assurance reviews for deliverables received from vendors and contracted personnel.
Identifies, facilitates, reviews, and approves of inspection reports and corrective actions for plant equipment.
Performs fitness for service evaluations per API, ASME or applicable industry guidelines/standards.
Provides engineering and project management support of plant equipment.
Prepare reports of key reliability metrics and associated analysis

Solves problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision.
Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in area of expertise.
Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities (under the guidance of higher-level employees)
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
Conducts basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity.
Participates in Process Safety Management activities, such as management of change, process hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
Daily oversight of process equipment with emphasis on equipment performance, technical troubleshooting, and communication of required and recommended maintenance practices
Supports the Company's goals and represents Duke Energy in a positive and professional light.
Possesses knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures
Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam
Practicing engineer with either a Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
Additional years of PSM Facility experience
Familiarity with API 510, 563 and 570.
Demonstrated experience with most common NDE and NDT technologies and applications
Demonstrated ability to create, review and comment on equipment specifications and drawings related to the above-mentioned equipment
Professional Engineer Certification
Experience in the utility industry, refining or chemical processing industries.
Experience with understanding the basic principles of project management
Experience using OSI PI Process book/Datalink and Microsoft Office software utilities
Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
Demonstrated ability to work independently while prioritizing multiple projects
Demonstrated understanding of basic practices of researching engineering, design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
Experience collaborating with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to effectively coordinate work activities
Valid Drivers License required
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, Audiometric and Respirator Clearance Examination

Perform work in a power plant and office environment
Required to observe and work in all areas of the generating facility, which are power plant industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with potential exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity
Exposure to mechanical, electrical, noisy and/or other hazards
Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, appropriate clothing, ear plugs, fall protection, etc.), as needed
