Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Maintenance Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance of our facilities, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of maintenance technicians engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment, and facilities and in fabricating parts/equipment. A successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with excellent leadership and communication skills.
JOB DUTIES
1. Follows broadly based directives.
a. Operates independently.
b. Maintains maintenance department records and prepares reports on department activities.
2. Trains and develops subordinate personnel.
a. Trains and/or assigns experienced employees in training new employees.
b. Trains employees in work methods, all procedures and operation of equipment.
c. Monitors employee performance and discusses methods and techniques with employees to improve performance.
d. Inspects work to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
e. Performs weekly departmental meetings and monthly safety meetings.
f. May train other supervisors and/or employees on proper machine/equipment operation.
3. Reads and analyzes a wide variety of instructional information and other written data.
a. Develops or assists in developing and maintaining manuals, procedures, specifications, forms etc., relative to organizational requirements and needs.
b. Reviews technical papers, catalogs, and other reference materials, and confers with equipment sales representatives to recommend new supplies and maintenance methods to improve plant operations.
c. Reviews inspection and repair orders and observes progress of work to evaluate efficiency and work quality.
d. Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance program on all machines and equipment.
e. Reviews maintenance records to determine machine downtime predictability.
f. Records and keeps pertinent maintenance information, personnel information, etc...
4. Plans, directs and controls a wide variety of assignments of up to 20 subordinates; works closely with shift supervisors and department managers, and on all matters relating to plant maintenance.
a. Receives, interprets, develops, and distributes directives ranging form the very simple to the highly complex and technical in nature.
b. Assists in establishing and implementing annual budget for department.
c. Provides required tools to employees, i.e., safety equipment, supplies and paperwork.
d. Directs workers engaged in repairing and maintaining parts of equipment and machines.
e. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in installation of machinery and equipment.
f. Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
g. Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from past experience.
h. Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
i. May requisite and keep supply of spare parts.
j. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in programming machinery and equipment.
k. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in making structural repairs to buildings.
l. Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawn, trimming, removing weeds, and disposing of plant refuse.
m. Directs workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork and furnishings of buildings and maintaining and repairing building utility system, such as electrical wiring and controls and plumbing systems.
n. Assists in maintenance activities, such as machine repair.
o. Has authority in disciplinary matters and performance decisions.
p. Maintains safe working conditions.
5. Interacts and communicates with people representing various departments and jobs.
a. Communicates both personally and impersonally, through oral or written directives and memoranda, with all involved parties.
b. Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings.
c. Confers with management and other department heads to plan preventive maintenance programs and to schedule inspections and major overhauls in coordination with other operating activities.
d. Confers with contractors to resolve problems in installation of new equipment and to assist in start of new additions.
e. Works closely with process engineers and plant supervisors.
AUTHORITY
1. Disciplinary action up to suspension and termination.
2. Performance decisions.
3. Recommends salary increases.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
1. Four (4) year degree from an accredited college/ university in a related field, or related work experience.
2. Supervisory experience.
3. Five (5) years on the job experience in Maintenance or Engineering.
4. Five (5) years maintenance experience with one (1) of those years in a supervisory role may be substituted for the above.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
