Delaware Learning Institute of Cosmetology Delaware is seeking qualified instructors. Job Duties:
- Understand the mission of the Delaware Learning Institute of Cosmetology and the importance of how we treat our students and their rights as students.
- Teach and follow the scheduled curriculum using all educational materials.
- Learn any new course of study or teaching methods and follow them consistently.
- Organize and prepare for all class presentations before starting class.
- Follow lesson plans for subjects to be taught without reading from the textbook.
- Implement DVDs/LAB and PowerPoints for subjects to be taught.
- Display a positive work attitude to set an example for the students.
- Practice proper grammar and pronunciation. You must be mindful of tone, clarity, and sarcasm.
- Maintain accurate information about the subject to be taught and up-to-date information concerning the chosen field of study.
- Vary the stimuli for students during the presentation.
- Be fair and impartial in dealing with the students.
- Listen to students and take into consideration as to what they think.
- Conduct practical evaluations and grade skills according to the established grading system and record grades as required on paper and the computer.
- Explain and clarify any grading as needed.
- Continued education classes are needed for your area of study and teaching methodology.
- Properly prepare graduating students for state or national licenses and employment.
- Professionalism and Respect displayed between team members and students is a must.
- Be readily available to students promptly; this includes further instruction above and beyond scheduled hours.
Travel: Some scheduled trips may be necessary to work at other campuses and for training conferences and conventions as required.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have previous education and salon experience. They must have a passion for educating, motivating, mentoring, and coaching all Future Professionals and inspiring and coaching Future Professionals in all clinic and classroom systems. This position requires experience in positive and effective communication, soft skills, professional development skills, and teamwork. Previous applicants need not apply.
Skills/Competencies Required:
- Current license issued by the Delaware Board of Cosmetology
- Excellent organization, coaching, and communication skills
- Skills in supervision, teamwork, and documentation.
- Solid work history with verifiable references
- Passion for the industry
- Honesty and professionalism
MUST be able to work:
Different schedules may include days, nights, and weekends. There are times when the educational staff may be expected to attend other school-related functions that may not be included in the regular hours of operation; if requested, this is mandatory, and you will be compensated for your time.
