Role Description
We are seeking a Donor Relations Specialist to join our Development team, reporting directly to the Director of Operations and Donor Relations. The Development Team solicits a wide variety of donations, grants, bequests, and other gifts, which support the work of the SF SPCA. The Donor Relations Specialist plays a key role in facilitating these transactions and ensuring our donors have a positive experience interacting with the SF SPCA.
As part of the Development Operations and Donor Relations team, this role will handle processing a variety of financial transactions. This will require daily donation entry and working with our finance, hospital, and shelter teams, banking partners, and third-party fundraising partners to ensure accurate and timely processing and reporting of donations. In addition, this role will assist with the SF SPCA’s Vision 2030 Campaign pledge processing and other administrative duties related to campaign operations as needed.
Core Responsibilities

Co-lead gift processing all donations for the Development team, prioritizing, and staying on top of day-to-day gift entry with accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Assist with the SF SPCA’s Vision 2030 Campaign pledge processing and other administrative duties related to campaign operations as needed.

Directly manage donor communications, both responding to inquiries and ensuring that administrative communications are timely and accurate.

Respond to the fundraising team on gifts being processed, alerting them to transactions that are relevant to their work.

Ensure that acknowledgement letters are drafted with accuracy and in standard business letter format.

Act as a resource for the Development team, both as a subject matter expert in operations, and handling ad hoc projects as requested.

Responsible for answering the phone and responding to inquiries from donors made to the general team phone line.

Responsible for opening Development Office’s USPS mail and scanning necessary documentation.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 days remote, with specific arrangements at the discretion of the Director of Development Operations and Donor Relations.
Requirements:
- 4+ years’ experience in fundraising, gift processing, donor relations, or related areas.

Experience using Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising CRM database.

Excellent communications skills and ease of use with the Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

Strong donor relations orientation: proven ability to communicate effectively with donors on the phone and in writing.

Must have a passion for data and organizing information and an eye for streamlining processes.

Self-directed with the ability to work as a team member.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Salary & Benefits
The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $31 - $34 per hour.
