APMG Personal Injury Case Coordinator
FT, exempt

SUMMARY: Candidate will handle all aspects of personal injuries claim at medical facility. Responsibilities include screening new patients, preparing pertinent paperwork and requesting signed liens from patient and referring attorney office, requesting policy reports, tracking case progress, maintaining constant communication and follow-ups with referring attorney office, and negotiating liens.
Responsible for maximizing the return of financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems for personal injury cases. Ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all personal injury reporting functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as primary contact for all personal injury related matters, including new case referrals.
- Contacts, schedules and follows up on new case referrals while ensuring the referring party is kept informed of progress.
- Contacts legal representation for information and activities on complex claims.
- Contact legal representation to determine whether the personal injury loss is covered.
- Reviews client’s medical records to ensure all conditions of care, operations, and procedures are documented.
- Initiate contact with clients upon receiving the assigned file.
- Identifies which Company facility is appropriate given the recommended procedure for the patient.
- Follow-up with legal representatives and the patient as needed.
- Post payments in a timely manner.
- Negotiates client billing and resolves PI claim problems or issues.
- Documents payment records and issues as they occur.
- Documents all conversations with clients, adjusters, and medical providers to capture cases status updates.
- Addresses medical and billing record requests pertaining to personal injury cases.
- Monitors Provider referrals and management reporting on a weekly basis.
- Coordinates with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer to ensure payments are in accordance with Company policies.
- Informs agents as needed during the claims process to ensure all proper procedures and coverages are explained to facilitate a seamless claim settlement.
- Identifies and implements solutions to achieve goals set for the total loss subrogation segments, while supporting Company objectives.
- Establishes reserves and authorizes payments in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer within the scope of authority and settles claims in the most cost- effective manner.
- Creates PI case aging reports utilizing billing software.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3years of paralegal work at a personal injury law firm.
- Prior experience handling and negotiating personal injury cases.
- Knowledge of insurance, personal injury case and reimbursement processes.
- Knowledge of personal injury procedure.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes (3-5 years preferred).
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices (3-5 years preferred)
- Certified Paralegal.
- Certification obtained from an accredited Medical coding program preferred.
- Skill in documenting and maintaining patient care records if necessary.
- Strong Negotiation skills.
- Strong Data Tracking and Reporting Skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, law firms and other affiliated organizations.
- Ability to work effectively with Peers and with Management.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Flexibility in working hours to handle variation in the inflow of patients and cover the needs of the department.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
