55-year-old family owned injection molder is seeking an experienced employee with a “can do” attitude to work in our Engineering department as a Tooling and Engineering Manager for new injection molding projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost, quality, and delivery of the project. This includes managing the personnel and resources associated with the design, build, and development of tooling related to the injection molding process. This position will interact with customers, manufacturing plants, internal/external shops, and suppliers. We are looking for someone who is detailed orientated and maintains a high level of accuracy while multitasking in a high pace environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads a cross functional project development team with responsibility of being technical lead for tooling.
- Decide on tool design concept, with tool designers and lead Design Review meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure we have a tool to meet customer and plant requirements.
- Debug and groom tools to meet quality and manufacturing standards.
- Track and monitor each program for performance for cost, quality and delivery against quoted assumptions.
- Provide general technical assistance to the Tool Room personnel as required.
- Liaison between internal departments including, but not limited to Quality, Molding, Project Engineering, Tool Room, Shipping or Scheduling.
- Responsible for continuous improvement tool related issues on respective program families.
- Coordinates both corrective action and continuous improvement activities
- Supports day to day activities as needed on the production floor, customers and vendors.
Successful Candidate will have:
- Must have at least 5-10 years of Plastic Molding experience.
- Ability to lead and mentor others.
- Must have very good SolidWorks knowledge.
- A background with experience in 3D CAD and plastic injection mold design.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong math skills.
- Work very well under general supervision, nad has the ability to speak to all levels of the organization.
- Experience with PPAP and GD&T.
- New mold project management experience.
