- Reports to the Quality Manager
Overall position description:
- Perform incoming inspections of electrical and mechanical parts (Electro-mechanical parts) and sub-assemblies.
Essential functions of the job:
- Ensure that product received is manufactured to the latest applicable configuration documentation or specification.
- Knowledge of AS9100 requirements
- Ensure that the product has a CoC, that it is correct and complete, and that it matches the product received.
- Verify that the product is defect free
- Review First Article Inspection reports for completeness and accuracy
- Verify that the product is in the correct packaging including ESD and MSD packaging.
- AQL sample size knowledge of incoming inspection.
- Ensure that the part has the correct ABC classification.
- Perform quality testing as required
- Verify all labeling is correct and apply Optel label
- Verify the point of use and place conforming product into the appropriate stocking bin
- Properly document and disposition nonconforming product
- Participate in process improvement teams
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Read, write, and speak English
- Working knowledge of electronic components
- Read and interpret drawings, BOM’s, work instructions
- Use of measuring devices such as: ruler, tape measure, caliper, micrometer
- Able to perform duties with little or no supervision
- Computer skills sufficient to use Microsoft Office applications and Manex
- Ability to use visual aids (microscope, ring light, etc.)
- Attention to detail
- Able to keep neat and organized record and files
- Good problem-solving skills
- Must be a U.S. person
Due to the type of work at the VIRTEX Plano, Texas facility, all successful applicants must be a "U.S. Person" (US citizens, US nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees).
Required education and experience:
- High school diploma
- Two years’ experience as a Quality inspector in the electronics industry
- Certified to IPC-610 and IPC-620 (latest revision) or within 1 year of start
A description of the physical demands:
- Sufficient eyesight to identify defects using visual aids
- Use microscope for 8-hour shift
- Use ring light for 8-hour shift
- Sit at workstation for extended periods
- Able to lift and carry 25 pounds
