Vice President of Fund Development

The Vice-President (VP) of Fund Development, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), stands as a pivotal senior figure within the 13-person development team, playing a critical role in strategizing and executing the organization's fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will bring profound experience in fund development, with a particular focus on corporate sponsorship and individual giving, alongside a deep commitment to enhancing New York City and fostering community building through a diverse and innovative volunteer network.
The VP will be chiefly responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the necessary infrastructure to support and expand a budget of $9.2 million, demonstrating an adeptness at navigating and leading the organization towards its financial objectives.
In collaboration with the CDO, the VP of Fund Development is charged with the oversight of all fundraising activities, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to achieving the organization's financial goals. This role demands a candidate who is not only a strategic thinker but also possesses strong managerial capabilities, excelling in execution and operational efficiency.

The Vice-President of Fund Development plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the development team in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer (CDO). This position involves:

Leading and mentoring a team of 12, nurturing a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and accountability, ensuring the team embodies continuous improvement and stakeholder focus.

Setting and achieving comprehensive annual objectives with direct reports, demonstrating accountability and a solutions-focused approach to surpass set goals.

Managing a personal donor portfolio with clear financial targets, engaging in direct outreach, solicitation, and stewardship to deepen donor relationships and meet annual goals.

Crafting and implementing innovative fundraising strategies aligned with New York Cares' events, initiatives, and programmatic efforts, while fostering strong donor relations and advancing equitable fundraising practices in partnership with the CDO.

Overseeing the integration of development activities with other New York Cares teams, ensuring seamless cross-functional operations and adherence to the organization's mission and values.

Managing the monthly reconciliation process with the finance department and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all development-related communications shared with external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.

Ideal candidates for the Vice President of Fund Development role will possess:

Over 10 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization, with a proven track record in development, including managing diverse donor relationships and successfully expanding donor bases.

The salary range is $135K - $155K and is commensurate with experience.
