Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is a rewarding, dynamic, people centric, full-time, salary position reporting to the Director of Operations. This position will act as the primary director for all volunteer-related tasks and volunteer-related events, responsible for managing up to 20 respite volunteer teams and recruiting/managing between 250 and 500 volunteers annually. The overall duties will include but will not be limited to recruitment of volunteers, scheduling and maintaining of volunteers, volunteer team creation oversite, volunteer intake and development, general supervision of volunteers, and management of overall session structure with additional respite staff. The Volunteer Coordinator will possess knowledge of human development and have the ability to recruit and maintain youth and community volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator is also expected to contribute to the overall success of the nonprofit organization by assisting leadership with other aspects of business operations as needed and assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management
- Growth of FRC volunteer participation annually.
- Assist with growth and management of FRC internship program annually.
- Track and report timely/appropriate data collection of volunteer attendance and hour records of volunteers as specified by Executive Director.
- Identify and schedule recruitment opportunities in a timely manner at college, high school and middle school levels.
- Research and be aware of annual school calendars to present in a timely fashion before student’s schedules fill up.
- Facilitate and communicate energetic, inspiring recruitment presentations to potential new volunteers.
- Create and facilitate volunteer incentives, award/cards program.
- Facilitate high quality volunteer performance at respite sessions with the support of FRC staff, college interns and volunteers.
- Develop and implement the initial training of volunteers with the support of the Lead Respite Providers, Family Coordinators & Director of Programs.
- Place reminder phone calls/texts/e-mails to volunteers 24-48 hours of their scheduled volunteer respite session.
- Support scheduled Outreach Events with the Family Coordinators and Director of Programs.
- Schedule and implement CPR training of volunteers with the Staff Administrator.
- Support Session Leads with new volunteer initiative overseeing and facilitating communication and correspondence with FRC volunteers.
- Partner with Staff Administrator to oversee FRC Center daily cleaning and special projects.
- Assist in planning/implementing holiday and special events including the Summer kickoff party, Returning Volunteer kickoff, Trunk or Treat, Family Holiday Party, Spring Fling and Volunteer Awards Ceremony with the support of the Lead Respite Providers, Family Coordinator and Director of Programs
- Assist with updating and distributing program pre, mid, and year-end evaluation for volunteers.
Education/Experience:
Minimum of 2 years nonprofit organization employment or volunteer experience
- Minimum of 1 year program development experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Special Education and/or Human Services, and/or equivalent relevant experience
Necessary Skills and Traits:
- Must have experience in public speaking and presentations
- Must demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, creativity, and vision
- Must have the ability to work with limited supervision
- Must have the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and written
- Must have and continue to obtain skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office programs which include Excel, Word, Access, Publisher, and PowerPoint
- Have experience in the non-profit arena, working with individuals who have disabilities, or equivalent
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Ability to monitor respite rooms and manage staff
- Ability to handle a multitude of activities and events at once
- Ability to create and sustain relationships with volunteers and staff
- Ability to travel to and recruit in Washoe County School District (WCSD) schools & surrounding counties
- Ability to maintain basic community relations through in person and outlets
- Must possess, or can possess within 30 days of employment, a Washoe County Sheriff’s Card, CPR certification, and negative TB test
Physical Demands:
Able to sit or stand and walk throughout the scheduled work shift
- Able to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.

This employment agreement is an at-will arrangement. Either the Northern Nevada RAVE Family Foundation or the contractor/employee may terminate at any time. However, 30 days’ notice is requested.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in managing volunteer programs
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire volunteers
- Familiarity with Salesforce and Raiser Edge or similar CRM software
- Knowledge of best practices in recruiting and retaining volunteers
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills
- Background in social work or related field is a plus
