Position Overview:
Think Ability, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Job Coach for People with Intellectual Disabilities. As a Job Coach, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with intellectual disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment opportunities. Your support and guidance will empower them to achieve their full potential in the workplace.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one support: Work closely with individuals with intellectual disabilities to understand their abilities, interests, and goals. Offer personalized guidance and support to help them develop the necessary skills for successful employment.
2. Job placement assistance: Collaborate with employers to identify suitable job opportunities that align with the abilities and interests of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Facilitate the job application process and provide ongoing support during the hiring process.
3. Job training and skill development: Develop customized training plans for each individual based on their specific needs and job requirements. Provide on-the-job training, including teaching job-related skills, workplace etiquette, and problem-solving techniques.
4. Ongoing support and advocacy: Maintain regular communication with employers to ensure a positive and inclusive work environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Advocate for reasonable accommodations and provide ongoing support to both the employee and the employer to foster long-term success.
5. Progress monitoring and reporting: Regularly assess the progress of individuals in their employment journey. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of their achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. Generate reports to track individual and program outcomes.
Requirements:
1. Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is highly preferred.
2. Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of intellectual disabilities and their impact on employment.
- Familiarity with vocational assessments and job development techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with individuals, employers, and team members.
- Ability to create and implement customized training plans.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
3. Certification:
- Certification in job coaching, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
4. Flexibility:
- Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and environments to meet the needs of individuals and employers.
5. Ethical Standards:
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards in all interactions.
6. Valid Driver's License:
- A valid driver's license is required as the job may involve traveling to various work sites.
7. Background Check:
- Successful completion of a background check will be required.

Pay: $15.21 - $15.96 per hour
