About the Role:
As the Mill Dept. Lead and CNC Programmer, you will oversee milling operations and utilize CAM software (Fusion 360 and Feature CAM from Autodesk) to create efficient and innovative toolpaths. Your expertise in G&M code and post-process editing will be crucial. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and designers, influence cost estimating, and ensure high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities:
- CAM Programming: Develop and optimize CAM programs using Fusion 360 and Feature CAM. Knowledge of G&M code and post-process edits.
- Milling Operations: Oversee daily milling operations. Assist in set up, operation, and work flow of CNC machines.
- Simulation and Testing: Use CAM software to simulate machining processes. Conduct testing to optimize and verify toolpaths.
- Cost Estimating: Provide input on cost estimating. Optimize production processes to reduce costs.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers and designers to align CAM programs with design specs. Ensure seamless workflow with the production team.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures to resolve and prevent quality issues preemptively.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of CAM programs and machining parameters. Document improvements. Manage revision levels and associated product changes.
- Training and Support: Train and support machine operators. Share best practices to enhance shop floor efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a CAM Programmer in a machine shop environment.
- Proficiency in Fusion 360 and Feature CAM from Autodesk.
- Strong knowledge of G&M code and program editing.
- Familiarity with Fadal and Okuma CNC controls is desired but not required.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
