Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center combines state-of-the-art oncologic medicine with a customized, patient-specific treatment plan. We aim to provide support that addresses the "whole person."
SUMMARY Plans, directs, and performs quality nursing care for all clinic patients by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OR RN IN ONCOLOGY
- Participates in development of clinical guidelines with medical staff, nursing administration, pharmacy, and other ancillary services as appropriate
- Interacts positively with new recruits presenting the organization in a positive manner.
- Maintains knowledge and appropriate skill sets to utilize the computer system, schedule appointments, manage telephone calls, perform patient assessments, document in the electronic health record, and assist patients and the providers as needed in the clinic setting.
- Maintains knowledge and skill sets required to conduct patient education session related to chemotherapy, drug administration, side effects, and other related issues.
- Collaborates with the manager of the Infusion & Oncology department to facilitate monthly Cancer Support Groups.
- Acts as a patient coordinator for Oncology Clinic patients. Deals directly with patients to ensure their timely movement though the health care system and to assure that individual patient needs are met. This includes but is not limited to scheduling appointments and treatments.
- Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local/consulting physician offices to foster cooperative relationships and problem solves issues regarding the clinic.
- Verifies orders and pre-authorization status for all oncology clinic patients.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
RN with a minimum of Associate's degree (AA) from two-year college nursing program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
Must maintain current CPR certification.Must maintain current ACLS certification.
