Job Description:
- Design and facilitate professional development for teaching staff that are purposefully designed to meet the identified needs and concerns of teachers.
- Demonstrate commitment to advance the professional learning and practice of teachers by maintaining timely and appropriate communications with all assigned teachers.
- Create and foster positive learning environments for teachers to accelerate professional growth.
- Advocate for student learning and employ Title I Instructional Coaching and mentoring strategies designed to help teachers enhance student learning in Reading and Math.
- Support all assigned teachers' ongoing progress.
- Support ongoing professional development to teachers.
- Ensure academic programming supports strong improvement in student academic performance.
- Ensures that appropriate differentiation is implemented for all learners including those with exceptional needs.
- Use data results from all internal and external assessment systems to inform all curricular decisions.
- Serve as primary Title I Instructional Coach for new and existing faculty that provide math and reading instruction; providing feedback and support on instructional methods, classroom management, and curriculum and implement coaching plans when necessary to assist staff in areas of weakness or deficiency.
- Helps staff resolve problems that impede student participation in appropriate learning activities thorough conference, professional development and coaching.
- Participates in collaborative planning of effective staff development programs that improve teaching outcomes and student learning (e.g., methods, skills, commitment, etc.).
- Monitors education laws, rules, and regulations. Keeps current with state academic content standards, benchmarks, and indicators.
- Promotes the continuity of the instructional program. Provides insights about student skill progression and key contributions made by staff at each level.
- Helps manage the reading and math instructional programs.
- Prepares/maintains accurate records.
- Coordinate and lead professional development activities in collaboration with Principal.
- Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide intentional feedback to push classroom instruction and teacher performance.
- Continuously researches best practices and remains well informed about professional issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor for the purpose of meeting the mission and goals of the Schools.
Qualifications:
- Current Ohio 5 Year-Professional Teaching License from the Ohio Department of Education
- Knowledge of State of Ohio's Standards and Common Core Standards
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
- Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
- Understanding and ability to manage confidential information
- High quality written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in an urban and/or school turnaround setting is a plus
