Job Summary - Shop Manager (metal doors and windows)
We have an immediate opening for this key role in our Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles shop (near Dodger Stadium). We specialize in high-end architectural metalwork, specifically custom door and window systems. The new Shop Manager will have the opportunity to elevate the performance of the shop and have a major impact on the success of the business. The candidate should have a strong background in architectural metal fabrication, steel door and window manufacturing ideally, and computer-based scheduling and production management. Responsibilities - Shop Manager (metal doors and windows)
- Manage the shop operations of two facilities (about 15,000 sf total), with around 10-20 employees currently, and typically 1-4 concurrently running jobs.
- Communication: Generate efficient communication between the shop and the office for seamless hand off of projects at each phase.
- Production Management: Create and maintain personnel and production schedules to meet short and long term project goals.
- Supply Chain: Place orders and work with the Purchaser to ensure that all parts and materials will arrive on time to keep production flowing on schedule.
- Supervision: Manage shop and installation personnel (in collaboration with the Project Manger), providing training, discipline, and direction, in order to build the best possible team.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all incoming raw materials, in-process work, and outgoing finished work meet quality standards.
- Hands-On: Hands on experience such a welding or installation is not required but this role may include performing some hands on work as part of training and in the day to day operations of the shop.
- Continuous Improvement: Every issue or problem is an opportunity to improve, look for areas to make large and small incremental changes, and provide feedback to the appropriate people early and often.

Requirements - Shop Manager (metal doors and windows)
- 5+ years of architectural metal industry experience
- 5+ years of hands-on fabrication experience
- 2+ years of production management and/or supervisory experience
- 1+ year of door and window manufacturing experience preferred
- Construction and installation experience preferred
- Computer-based scheduling and organizational experience is preferred
- Proven experience meeting deadlines as a leader
- Optimism, charisma, and an outgoing personality are preferred for this leadership role
- Must have reliable transportation and cell phone
Physical Requirements - Production Manger (metal doors and windows)
- Able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing, stooping, standing on a ladder and other similar factory and job site body positions, as well as sitting at a desk and working on a computer for extended periods
- Must be able to perform heavy lifting safely and repeatedly
- Manual dexterity to perform job duties including operating equipment, machinery, tools, and material manipulation
FATHOM & FORM is an Architectural Metal Fabrication company located in LA that provides design services, engineering, prototyping, CNC parts, and contract fabrication to customers across commercial and residential industries. We specialize in steel doors and windows, and decorative architectural metalwork.
We build to a tolerance of 1/16" or better on all of our high-end metal projects. We will be doing paid practical working interviews that require an understanding of materials, handling, and layout to this degree of accuracy. To qualify for this position you must pass this round of interview and demonstrate over 2 weeks that you are capable of working in this environment to be considered for the full-time position.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
