Position Summary:
The Customer Support Specialist assist with leadership development, program execution, and membership retention within our Southern Indiana Scouting programs (Clark, Scott, Washington, Harrison, Crawford, and Floyd counties in Indiana). Also, in consultation with the District Director, an incumbent in this position may coordinate with the work of the unit commissioners.
Primary responsibilities:
- 12 month - new unit on-boarding and support. (Focus on any unit with less than 2 years tenure.)
- New member and leader on-boarding support & training.
- Dropped member re-engagement.
- Arrow of light transition and retention.
- Work with District Director to facilitate member and leader retention & growth.
Other Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating recruitment efforts with assigned Packs and Troops following our council process and plans.
- Scheduling and execution of sign-up nights at assigned Elementary & Middle Schools.
- Conducting school talks at assigned schools.
- New unit development and support.
- Work with District Director to facilitate membership and unit growth within district.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
General: 21 years of age or older, and willingness to abide by the policies and standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
Education and work experience: HS diploma required, and four-year college degree or equivalent is preferred but not required. Scouting experience is preferred. Sales and business experience is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills are essential. Familiar with Excel, Mass Communication Software, and Google applications.
Interpersonal skills: Solid management, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required. Must be able to be a team player and communicate effectively with volunteers and staff.
Work environment and expectations: Must be able to prioritize work under deadlines, work under time constraints, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to take initiative in a supporting role. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure. Position may have frequent interruptions and requires ability to move from project to project at a moment’s notice while maintaining a positive attitude. Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
Confidentiality: Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all information dealing with partners, participants, and council, including staffing, compensation, and all business information.
Technology/software: Must be able to adapt to changing technology and methods. Intermediate knowledge of Windows and MS Office; Outlook, Access, Word, and Excel skills are needed. Needs to use email and internet effectively. Utilizes computer software to construct, manipulate data and draw

Work cooperatively with leadership, volunteers, coworkers, vendors, and others. Recognize the importance of positive working relationships and strive to maintain them.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Motor vehicles, computers/printers, copiers, smart phone, other current technology tools, telephone system, audio-visual equipment, visual aids, council service center equipment, etc. Must be able to maintain current driver’s license and automotive insurance; must be able to drive one’s own personal motor vehicle for council business (to be reimbursed for mileage at current IRS-approved rate).
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Work is usually sedentary within the office with the occasional need for lifting of popcorn boxes, files, and equipment (up to 50 pounds).

WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:
When visiting council camps, the employee may be exposed to all weather environmental conditions. Must be able to maintain regular attendance. This position will require some outside meetings; must be able to work irregular hours when needed, including some early mornings, evenings and weekends as demanded by work load.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
