Job Summary
As a Quality Lab Technician at Chippewa Valley Bean Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and consistency of dry bean commodities. While working in our quality lab, you will be responsible for assessing the quality attributes of beans through various testing procedures to ensure that Chippewa Valley Bean maintains our reputation of excellence in the industry. This individual understands that attitude and state of intent with-in the daily activities of the organization are what ensures food safety and quality.
Job Functions
- Quality and Testing Assessment: Perform finished product inspection of beans according to established grading standards. Utilize equipment to evaluating factors such as product moisture, various defects, foreign material, size and color. Perform standard sanitation audits of the production, warehouse and receiving areas of the facility.
- Sample Maintenance/Purchased Product: Maintain retention sample bank of shipped product and purchased product samples.
- USDA Sampling: Work with logistics to organize weekly documentation and load set up with warehouse personnel. Oversee the USDA inspector sample collection.
- Data Analysis: Accurately record and interpret test results with digital tools and software applications to analyze and interpret results. Generate detailed reports and actionable insights for quality control and process improvement initiatives.
- Automation Integration: Collaborate with the team to implement automation solutions and integrate technology-driven processes into lab operations, streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all relevant regulations and safety protocols to guarantee a safe working environment and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production staff and quality assurance personnel, to address quality issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing ideas and insights to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance within the quality lab.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a lab environment, preferably within the food processing or agricultural industry, is advantageous.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform precise and accurate assessments.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate findings.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with regulations and company policies.
