Conveniently located in Matthews, North Carolina - right outside of beautiful, growing Charlotte, NC – Northeast Tool is centrally located to the city, beaches, mountains and hiking, all within a 2-3 hour radius. Position qualifies for a $2/hour shift differential on top of base pay!
What You’ll Do
- Operate computer numerical control machines (5-axis mills, mills, multi-axis mill-turns, lathes, and/or Wire EDM's) to fabricate metal parts.
- Follow manufacturing processes of parts according to blue prints, approved sketches, drawings, written specifications, verbal instructions or sample part to required dimensions and tolerances of finished product.
- Ability to change, insert and secure tools including recalibration of the tool.
- Observe machine operation to detect malfunction, out-of-tolerance machining or uncontrolled process and make necessary adjustments and/or report to designated lead person as required to maintain quality.
- Take, read and understand material measurements using basic measuring tools.
- Basic finishing work, such as deburing, cleaning, etc. May also include utilizing a hand or drill press to tap or countersink holes.
- Understand and control tolerance levels.
- Monitor tool wear.
- Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.
- Responsible for following and maintaining 5S in work area and performing total preventative maintenance activities.
- Load and unload raw material or parts into machining centers.
- Will use digital measurement tools with an emphasis on dimensional accuracy and precision.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- CNC Operator I: High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years related experience in a metal cutting machine shop environment; experience must be within the most recent 2 years of work history.
- CNC Operator II: High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years related experience in a metal cutting machine shop environment; experience must be within the most recent 2 years of work history.
- Equivalent combination of higher level education and/or experience may be considered.
- Basic understanding of blueprint reading and tolerances; able to use machine shop language to communicate effectively (i.e. reading decimal values in thousandths and tenths).
- Demonstrable experience with measuring instruments (i.e. mic's, calipers) is required, with the ability to produce consistent, reliable, and repeatable measurements.
- High aptitude for learning, and ability to follow adhered processes and procedures.
Even Better
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university, or two years of equivalent higher education strongly preferred; preference in machine tool technology or industrial manufacturing preferred.
- Exposure to GD&T; GD&T ASME Y14.5 - 2018 foundational level certification preferred.
- Previous experience in an AS9100 Environment strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with multi-axis machining preferred; DMG Mori, Grob, and/or Okuma experience strongly preferred.
- Experience holding tight tolerances (from 2-tenths to 5-tenths).
Standard Hours
- Monday – Friday: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- We don’t work Sundays, so that evening you will come in at 12:00 AM
- All other evenings you will come in at 11:00 PM and get off the following morning at 7:30 AM
Pay
Pay is commensurate with experience. This is determined in accordance with our job progression/job hierarchy.
CNC Operator I range is $19-24/hour base.
CNC Operator II range goes up to $27/hour base.
As a 3rd shift position, this role qualifies for base rate plus a $2/hour shift premium.
