Wastewater Operator

Responsibility or Job/Duty Description
- Candidate must be able to troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, treatment systems, generators, and related support systems. Types of equipment and systems experience may include lift stations, pumps, valves, switch gear, motors, air compressors, sensors and telemetry equipment, ultraviolet light disinfection equipment, solids centrifuge equipment, flow meters, chemical feed systems, overhead cranes, generators and related equipment.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of process utilities equipment. Operate and interpret results for pH, dissolved oxygen, analytical equipment, sampling instruments, and flow instruments to the degree required by Dekalb County permit and policy.
- Walk thru plant to visually inspect tanks, blowers, chemical feed system, aeration tanks, digester, EQ and clarifier. Documenting and report any problems or issues found.
- Process Control testing. Settle ability, suspended solids test, DO aeration tank, DO in Digester, OH in aeration tank, Digester and EQ tank(to check pH monitoring probe). Record all test results.
- Cleaning EQ pH probe and calibrate.
- Weekly and monthly compliance testing performed.

Minimum Education and Related Experience Requirements
- Vocational/technical training and State of Georgia certification (Class 1 or 2) as Wastewater Treatment Operator.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on wastewater treatment experience
- The ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, treatment systems, generators and related support systems.
- Wastewater treatment experience at an industrial food manufacturing facility a plus.
Minimum Language Requirements
- Must be able to speak and write English proficiently, additional language skills preferred
Minimum Admin Skills
- E-mail proficiency, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, math and writing skills proficiency a plus
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work on and around equipment and lift 50 pounds occasionally.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
