Risk Consultant (RC): The Risk Consultant is a highly skilled person focused on attracting, proposing, and closing prospects. The RC works in a proactive way, developing relationships with carriers, prospects, and account managers, and executing tasks timely and accurately. The RC asks pertinent questions of the prospect in order to learn about exposures and find the right insurance solutions. An inquisitive manner serves the client, agency, and carrier best.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prospecting, marketing, proposing. The RC is responsible to:
Utilizing various resources, (referrals, networks, social media, etc), the RC is expected to generate prospects that meet the qualifications of carrier markets and agency underwriting.
- Converse with prospect to learn about the needs, exposures, and priorities of the prospect. From this information, the RC determines the best carrier(s) to quote.
- Quote in the desired markets and propose to the prospect in a timely manner. Emphasize coverage solutions offered.
- Follow agency Errors & Omissions guidelines.
- Order policy, following binding and cash procedures outlined.
- Document Epic throughout the process (or provide information to support staff).
- Review policies issued by carriers to assure the policy is completely consistent with the proposal.
2. Advanced consultation.
- Understand policy forms of various carriers.
- Be able to make policy comparisons.
- Identify risks and coverage gaps.
- Is well versed in and offers agency website services and mobile app.
Requirements
- The RC is expected to take initiative to prospect for new client opportunities.
- Knowledge of marketplace. The RC is expected to know the carrier niches and determine best account placement.
- Underwriter relationships. The RC is expected to forge positive working relationships with carrier underwriters.
- Proactive, can-do attitude…with a smile. The RC manages his/her time, focusing on high pay-off activities to achieve sales results.
- Insurance knowledge. The RC pursues or has earned advanced insurance designation(s) such as CPRM.
- Computer skills. The RC uses the latest technology, has advanced skills in Excel, Outlook, and network directory functions. Additionally, the RC maneuvers the agency website, mobile app with ease and proactively offers these technologies to prospects.
- Professionalism and accuracy. The RC’s written communications are clear and free of grammatical errors. Self-starter; life-long learner. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data. Constructive thinking and alternative short-to-long term solutions must be considered.
- Proven record of pursuing and closing sales.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and an ability to work successfully on several projects concurrently.
- Excellent time and task management, and organizational skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
