SUMC PRE-SCHOOL DIRECTOR
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Location: Clifton Park, NY
Headliner:
Seeking a committed Christian early childhood development professional with proven leadership skills to lead our weekday Pre-school program.
Overview:
The Shenendehowa United Methodist Church (SUMC) Pre-School provides high quality Christian early childhood education; helping children thrive academically, socially, physically and spiritually. The Pre-School Director is responsible for oversight of all SUMC Pre-School operations and performance management of a team of teaching and administrative staff members. Eligible candidates will be experienced education professionals with a passion for maintaining excellence in preschool programming.
Required Qualifications:
- Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood, Special or Elementary Education or minimum of 3 years’ teaching or relevant work experience
- Training or experience in supervision and/or administration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be willing to work on site during the school year (September-June)
- Must be willing to work up to 32 hours per week during the school year and up to 10 hours per week during school breaks
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities:
The Pre-School Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Pre-School and is accountable to the Pre-School Board regarding the operation of the Pre-School. The Director’s duties and responsibilities include:
- Oversight of all SUMC Pre-School operations
- Primary point of contact for current and prospective Pre-School parents
- Engage with the Pre-School Board at all regularly scheduled board meetings and as necessary throughout the year
- Attends weekly SUMC Staff Meetings
- Selection, hiring and performance management (annual performance review, absence management, payroll oversight) of Pre-School staff
- Mentor and coach staff on Pre-School programming needs, progress of students and staff professional development
- Ensure Pre-School compliance with all applicable educational, safety, security, state jurisdictions, local jurisdictions and any SUMC requirements
- Communicate and apply policies established by the Pre-School Board
- Schedule and lead monthly Pre-School staff meetings
- Oversee the budget and ordering of Pre-School supplies
- Plan the promotion and advertisement for the Pre-School. Schedules and attends an annual Open House and provides an explanation of school policies to parents and the public
- File the annual reports concerning enrollments, students’ immunization records, teachers’ certifications and in accordance with any regulating authority requirements
- Maintain a Pre-School Employee Handbook, or addendum to the SUMC Employee Handbook as deemed appropriate by the Pre-School Board
- Plan lessons and activities for enjoyable, engaging and spiritually meaningful Chapel time sessions
- Collaborate with the Pre-School Board and SUMC Staff to connect the SUMC Pre-School to Christ and community
- Other Duties as assigned
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $31,850.00 - $44,096.00 per year
