Computer Technician Job Description
Job Title: Technical Support Specialist
Credentials: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Education: High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Psychology, Instructional Design, Computer Education, and Educational Leadership or related computer education field preferred. Experience with computer systems, common peripherals and computer software. Must have some skills in hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Training or experience required: 2 years of full time employment in education or work related to this position preferred.

Contract: 260 Days

Essential Job Functions:
- Act as a liaison between your assigned site and Technology Services. Ensure your site personnel get resolution for their issues
- Plan, manage and implement deployment of devices or other device initiatives for your assigned site location - including initial login and training overview
- Assist school personnel and students with resolving computer, printer and technical problems that are causing an interruption to classroom instruction and testing - both hardware software
- Work with testing coordinators and other TSC staff to ensure devices are on the correct operating system, have the proper software, are connecting to the proper network for upcoming standardized tests as well as helping building test coordinators to organize proper testing room setup
- Maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Successful performance of the job requires good customer service/people skills and to handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested. It requires complying with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or to students. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff. Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are critical to the success of the position. Provide training and support to district staff in the use of computer systems. Perform such tasks to the ultimate benefit of the educational program. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job. Since there may be several ways to solve a problem, an incumbent is often free to choose the solution. On a workday, the employee must stand/walk 4 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, and pushing/pulling; occasional climbing (6-foot ladder) and reaching above the shoulders. Employee's job requires occasional carrying/lifting of up to 50 pounds to move computers and printers.
