Product Development Specialist
Purpose:
The Product Development Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development of new products. This includes testing, research, configuring production logistics and creating new SKU’s
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development process for various products and projects.
- Assisting in formula development and product trials.
- Travel to vendor facilities to for QA/R&D/trial oversight when required.
- Assist in internal sample evaluation and reporting.
- Assist in documenting new product specifications and processing/testing parameters.
- Assist in managing QA documentation associated with new co-packers and associated products.
- Assist in researching new product processing equipment/procedures.
- Responsible for butter tasting, A2, Omega, Vitamins, Shelf Life and CLA testing / sample submission.
- Assist in coordinating new product sample submission for customers.
- Assist in managing Genesis database for new ingredients & recipes through development to launch.
- Input new ingredient nutrition data.
- Input recipe to generate nutrition panel.
- Show available claims.
- Assist in Nutrition Facts Panel review.
- Assist in BOM, formula, and item setup in ERP system.
- Maintain items in ERP system
- Shipping out samples for Sales, and Quality departments.
- Coordinate shipment timing on current and new products
- Ship samples to external labs
Other Required Responsibilities:
- Available for travel to co-packers and vendors as well as conferences and trade shows.
- Provide back-up support to lab positions, including Customer Service, Quality Resource specialists
- Operate Microthermic’s mini processor.
- Perform CIP
- Acquire ingredients.
- Source and sterilize bottles.
- perform instrument maintenance and aid in repairs beyond normal PMs
- WIP and SOP creation, including for new instruments.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous experience in Food Science or related field; helps with formula creation.
- Minimum of 3 yr. experience in food/dairy manufacturing; helps ensure employee has a familiarity with the milk manufacturing process.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work for extended periods in an office environment as well as spending the entire day on the plant floor. Walking, climbing, bending, stooping and working in adverse environments will all be a requirement. Lifting to 50lbs at times. Able to travel via automobile or airline.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
