Description
A. TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain cultures of human stem cells and stem cell derivatives for research projects and assistance for lab personnel.
2. Preparation of solutions and other reagents.
3. Perform tasks of lab helpers when personnel coverage is inadequate for the workload.
4. Test cell cultures for contamination.
5. Assist other lab members with technical tasks as needed.
6. Keep an up-to-date, detailed, and accurate record of work in the laboratory accessible to the PI.
B. ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS & GENERAL LABORATORY DUTIES
1. Attend weekly laboratory meetings.
2. Promptly inform PI of difficulties with procedures, equipment, or personnel matters related to job performance.
Qualifications
1. Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and protocol is highly desirable.
2. Skilled in working with basic laboratory equipment.
3. Ability to communicate clearly and work in a team environment.
4. Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
5. Knowledge of lab safety including use of biohazardous and chemical waste.
6. Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
7. Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
8. Must be responsible and able to work independently.
9. Willingness to work occasional weekends.
10. Hands-on experience with stem cell-derived neural progenitor induction techniques.
11. Hands-on experience with maintaining, expanding, and freezng human stem cell cultures and neural derivatives.
12. Hands-on experience testing human cell cultures for mycoplasma contamination.
13. Ability to work with multiple cell lines simultaneously.
