Job Title: Employment Support Specialist
Job Summary: The Employment Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting justice-involved individuals reintegrate into the workforce. This position involves conducting thorough assessments, developing personalized employment plans, and providing ongoing support to facilitate successful job placements. The specialist collaborates with community resources and employers to ensure clients receive comprehensive support tailored to their needs, fostering sustainable career goals and successful reentry into society.
Responsibilities:
Case Management:
- Work closely with justice-involved individuals on parole, probation, or post-incarceration.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to formulate individualized reentry plans.
- Provide consistent case management, including recordkeeping and progress monitoring.
Employment Readiness Training:
- Design and deliver workshops on job readiness skills, resume development, interview techniques, and workplace professionalism.
- Assist clients in identifying and leveraging transferable skills to enhance employability.
Job Placement Assistance:
- Collaborate with employers, community organizations, and placement agencies to identify suitable job opportunities.
- Facilitate job referrals, interview preparations, and employment offers for clients.
Follow-Up and Retention Support:
- Monitor client progress in employment and provide ongoing support and resources as needed.
- Offer strategies for job retention and workplace adaptation to promote sustained employment.
Resource Coordination:
- Connect clients with essential support services such as housing assistance, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services.
- Maintain current knowledge of community resources and make appropriate referrals.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate client records, progress notes, assessments, and service plans.
- Prepare regular reports on client outcomes, program effectiveness, and areas for enhancement.
Employer Engagement:
- Educate employers on the benefits of hiring justice-involved individuals and foster partnerships for job placements.
- Advocate for reentry issues and promote awareness within the community.
Skills:
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and ethical standards in client interactions.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client needs, including occasional evening or weekend work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management for tracking client progress.
