We are in search of a highly talented and motivated Director of Sales to join our team to make successful sales effort needed for our hotels. You must be proficient at managing the ongoing sales strategy of the hotels. This role will be critical in creating and maintaining a positive proactive and reactive sales culture.
This position will actively solicit business with a focus on corporate, group event and leisure packaging travel markets. Strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills required for this leadership role. Also responsible to inspire and mentor all hotel associates to on this approach.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in creating a focused Annual Sales & Marketing plan directed at setting and delivering sales strategy to drive revenue results. This entails analyzing market, customer and competitive information and building sales strategy and marketing objectives to expose this new hotel to all area travel generators. This also includes building forecasts for the specific strategy/objectives and measuring the results against the forecasts.
- Find creative and effective ways to bring in new business within group and business transient market segments. Cultivate and source leads through cold calls, telemarketing, direct sales and networking.
- Direct the solicitation efforts of room sales through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.
- Administers group events including greeting all groups and individual tours, placing welcome baskets in group contacts' room and taking care of any final items with the group at check out.
- Coordinates rooming list input and group billing as well as banquet event orders and billing.
- Review and utilize Sales Tools and global sales associates. Actively participate in and monitor hotel RFP efforts for corporate, FIT and group business.
- Review and utilize marketing tools to design print and electronic advertising and marketing promotions for the hotel.
- Maintain fresh hotel marketing and sales content on a variety of industry websites focused on popular travel, meetings and group events.
- Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.
- Conduct an average of ten outside sales calls per week with qualified potential customers.
- Responsible for representation within the business community and hospitality industry that expose the hotel to opportunities and create a positive public image. Participate in key organizations as recommended by management.
- Inputting and retrieving information from hotel sales software system for file maintenance, correspondence and preparation of forecasts and marketing budget.
- Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Department and related meetings.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations for prospective clients. Internally promote hotel’s programs. Meet with and entertain clients, some of which may require local travel.
- Research Trade Show and Sales Blitz opportunities to maximize facility exposure. Cost analysis necessary.
Qualifications:
· Prior Hotel experience a plus.
· Proficient in use of hotel PMS system is a plus
* Familiar with event sales and service
· Strong leadership experience with demonstrated ability to coach a team.
· PC literacy is required. Ability to analyze hotel sales efforts and goal achievement. Ability to note deviations from the marketing plan, determine causes and to provide recommendations to the General Manager on needed action plans.
· Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to understand and carry out industry specific written and oral direction. Positive, innovative approach to problem solving. Presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner; negotiate, persuade, and modify opinion in order to reach the goals/objectives of the organization.
· Strong understanding of industry and demonstrated knowledge in the areas of marketing, business development, revenue management, and outside and inside sales approach.
· Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key associates, guests and top management.
· Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-through.
· Ability to exercise judgment and discretion is critical to success. Must be professional at setting priorities and coping with competing demands.
