Summary: Provides day-to-day support to the Tissue Mill, Fiber Recycling Plant and Shipping Departments. Responsible for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical/instrumentation systems.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Maintain and troubleshoot mill electrical power systems; 2,400 V, 480 V, 240/120V and 24V AC& DC.
- Observe and follow all the safety regulations and plant procedures including use of personal protection equipment (PPE) such as respirators, fall protection harness, chemical suits, hardhats, safety glasses, face shields, gloves and other equipment as required to perform job duties safely.
- Utilize PLC and DCS System to troubleshoot – Tissue Machine, Winder, Recycled Fiber System and Shipping Equipment.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on automated control systems (PLC/DCS) and computer workstations in order to maintain a reliable operating unit.
- Install, setup and maintain process equipment – motors, motor starters, variable speed drives, various devices, etc.
- Maintain variable frequency drives, power distribution and PLCs
- Troubleshoot and maintain industrial PLC, interpret I/O drawings and identify in the field by I/O address
- Troubleshoot and Maintain A/C and D/C motors
- Troubleshoot, service, repair and maintain transformers
- Safely perform work on motor starters, circuit breakers and feeders
- Ability to further electrical/instrument, pneumatic and hydraulic maintenance skills
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain various instruments such as flow, pressure, level and temperature devices and controllers.
- Troubleshoot system problems to determine if they are electrical, instrumental or mechanical in nature.
- Familiar with electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Read electrical, gas and steam usage meters, record information and generate monthly reports of calibration situations.
- Perform PID control loop tuning to bring control loops to a precision state.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&ID’s and schematics and make proper installations/changes.
- May be assigned to special projects as needed.
- Provide daily support to all plant operations in order to continue 24/7 operations.
- Willing to work overtime and provide off-hours call-out support when required.
- Perform and complete scheduled and non-scheduled work orders.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components including photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, and encoders
- Perform preventative maintenance such as changing contacts, checking motors and the operation of robotic systems
- Configure and calibrate smart and non-smart transmitters for flow, pressure, pH, consistency, density, conductivity and temperature
- Calibrate and configure pressure, temperature and flow switches
- Install, configure and calibrate a Smart Positioner on control valves
- Troubleshoot, drag and repair electrical and electronic systems on converting plant equipment including any electromechanical production equipment
Qualification Requirements, Education, Skills and /or Experience:
· Must have excellent troubleshooting and Analytical skills.
· Strong instrumentation background preferred.
· 2 year associates degree in instrumentation or technical discipline preferred.
· Must be able to interact well with customers, employees, and various vendors.
· Must be able to read and understand P&ID’s, electrical and Pneumatic drawings, etc.
· Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment maintaining a positive attitude with others.
· DCS/ABB Controls and PLC Logic experience preferred.
· Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
· Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
· Respond to emergencies during off hours and weekends
· Basic computer skills
