Our firm seeks an early career architect to support our accelerating growth while refining their professional capabilities, eventually maturing into a leadership role as a fully licensed architect. The successful candidate will complete the apprentice phase of their career under the experienced guidance of the firm’s principal architect, Alan B. Smith, while continuously developing skills across a wide variety of projects alongside our expert design team. After successfully passing board examinations to obtain formal status as a Registered Architect, this position will be eligible for promotion to become an equity-holding associate of the firm.
Architect Role and Responsibilities:
- Research, program, plan, design, and administer building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, zoning and building codes, and building materials and systems
- Produce conceptual plans, renderings, and documents
- Plan and program layout of projects; coordinate and integrate engineering designs into a unified design
- Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and construction documents
- Interface with Principal Architect, project managers, clients, and engineering partners
- Work efficiently with the firm’s design and drafting team
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university; candidates with a Master’s degree will be given priority consideration
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, contemporary construction methods and materials, building systems, and site requirements
- on track to become a licensed/registered architect ; candidates with State of Alabama Registered Architect status will receive priority consideration.
- 3+ years of applied architectural experience preferred.
- Competent proficiency using Revit and/or SketchUp preferred
