Job Title: CNC Programmer/Machinist
SUMMARY: Program, sets up, and operates manual/CNC machines to manufacture components. You are responsible for maintaining high-quality products and be able to achieve production standards. You will work on improving existing components and develop processes for new parts. You will work independently and jointly with Technical Support staff to select cutting tools and program changes to meet quality and production standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program new parts
- Machine parts which have multiple physical and/or quality features and understand how those features impact the customer
- Operate a variety of machine types or multiple non-complex machines at a time and perform set-ups independently
- Adjust speeds/feeds, edit or recommend edits for existing programs
- Setup repeat and non-complex jobs
- Problem solving and trouble shooting
- Monitor machine performance to ensure that product quality and specifications are achieved
- Prepare future jobs while machines are operating
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
- May train new operators
- Inspect completed work independently using advanced measurement/inspection tools
- Must contribute to Doering’s culture of continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of three years of relevant machining & programming experience
- Diploma or AAS degree in the machine trades preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret GD&T drawings and follow routers
- Technical math skills such as Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry
- Inspection methods – be able to inspect parts with manual tools and operate a CMM
- Proficient in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft office, typing, 10 key, and internet navigation
- Must be flexible and open to cross training in other cells
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work performed in a temperature controlled manufacturing/machine shop environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Light to moderate physical effort required
- Prolonged standing
- Regularly required to walk, bend, reach and move about the facility
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
