Summary:
Designs, develops, and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes, and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
- Develop specific calibrations and tests.
- Document results in accordance with the specification.
- Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
- Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
- Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
- Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area by evaluating and selecting solutions from established operating procedures and/or analytical/scientific methods
- Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree
- Equivalent Combination of Relevent Education & Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Must hold current certificates ASNT level III in Radiography (RT), penetrant (PT) method A &B, Nadcap Written Practice, Magnetic Particle (MT), Computed Radiography (CR), Ultrasonic Inspection UT
- Must have excellent communication and analytical skills
