Special School District (SSD) relies on the Secretary to the Board of Education (BOE) to provide executive-level administrative support to the Superintendent of Schools and the Board, ensuring efficient Board operations and strict compliance with legal and policy requirements. Your responsibilities include preparing, distributing, and maintaining accurate records of Board meetings, utilizing Robert's Rules of Order for orderly meetings, and serving as the primary point of contact for the Board with exemplary customer service. You will manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment while coordinating and communicating effectively with Board members, district staff, and the community.
Your proven experience in executive administrative support, ideally within an educational or governmental setting, exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information discreetly are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills are also required. This position significantly impacts the District’s services by ensuring smooth Board operations and maintaining high administrative support and customer service standards, contributing to our climate and culture.
The BOE secretary works Monday through Friday, typically from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, at our Central Office, 12110 Clayton Road, Town & Country, MO, 63131. The position requires attending BOE meetings in the evenings, occasional travel to other sites in St. Louis County, and infrequent weekend hours. Hours are adjusted as needed and will be set by the Superintendent. This position is generously compensated and includes insurance, paid time off and holidays, access to staff health clinics, and more.
