Job Description
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Imaging Services Department. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Ensures smooth patient flow throughout the day. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Monitors competency of all staff. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while ensuring compliance with all accrediting organization, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general population.
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Makes rounds throughout the Imaging Services Department to ensure a smooth patient flow.
- Acts as a resource person for department staff, physicians and the general hospital staff.
- Initiates and actuates improved methods of imaging services and directs their implementation.
- Develops and assists in conducting the department's inservices.
- Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored properly.
- Ensures that the staff technologists are not allowed to perform independent flouroscopic examinations.
- Provides preventative maintenance for equipment.
- Delegates authority and responsibility to the Imaging Services staff.
- Directs and participates in the human resource management function for the department by assisting with the selection, promotion, orientation and performance appraisal processes.
Qualifications
- High school graduate, or equivalent
- Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Certified by the State of Indiana to practice and administer radiation
- Current BCLS certification
- At least five (5) active years in a department with diagnostic and special procedures experience
- At least one (1) year experience in management/supervision
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of additional languages preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to operate HIS and PACS computer systems
- Venipuncture/Ability to establish IVs
