Job Title: Special Education Teacher
We are looking for passionate special education teachers to join our team. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. The Special Education Teacher collaborates with other educators, parents and outside service providers to design and deliver instruction that meets the unique academic, social and emotionial needs of each student. The Special Education Teacher adapts teaching methods and materials to accommodate a variety of learning styles and abilities, and provides accommodations and modifications as needed to support student success. The Special Education Teacher also monitors student progress, maintains accurate records, and participates in the evaluation and revision of IEPs as necessary. The Special Education Teacher stays current with best practices in special education and works to ensure that the school's special education program is effective and meets the needs of all students with disabilities.
What you will be doing

Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities

Providing accommodations and modifications as needed ot support student success

Collaborating with other educators, parents, and outside service providers to design and deliver instruction that meets the unique academic, social and emotional needs of each students

Monitoring student progress and maintaing accurate records

Participating in the evaluation and revision of IEPs as necessary

Providing support and guidance to students with disabilities to help them achieve their goals
-
Communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and needs

Staying current with best practices in special education and working to ensure that the school's education program is effective and meets the needs of all students with disabilities

Collaborating with other teachers and school staff to ensure studentts with disabilities are included in all aspects of school life, including extracurricular activities and events
What you bring to the table

Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Education
-
PA Instructional Certification in Special Education or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania

Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
-
Content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content areas and grade levels, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skills

Knowledge of assistive technology and other tools to support student learning

Ability to motivate and build relationships with parents, students and staff to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships

Commitment to diversity and inclusion

Patience, empathy and a strong desire to help students with disabilities succeed

Flexibility to work with students of different ages, abilities and needs

Willingness to continue learning and staying current with best practices in special education

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 10-months, exempt

This position is for in-person work at our location

179 instructional days, 194 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable

To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
