Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to provide end-of-life care and support to terminally ill patients in hospice settings. The Hospice Nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients during their final stages. The ideal candidate will exhibit empathy, professionalism, and clinical expertise in palliative care.
Duties:
- Provide holistic care to hospice patients, focusing on pain management, symptom control, and emotional support.
- Conduct physical examinations and assess patients' conditions regularly.
- Administer medications, including injections, as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Coordinate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families on end-of-life care options and provide emotional support throughout the hospice journey.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
Skills:
- Anatomy knowledge for accurate assessment and care planning.
- Experience in administering injections and medications.
- Ability to ventilate patients when necessary.
- Proficiency in emergency medicine practices.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures for diagnostic testing.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare team members.
- Prior experience in assisted living or outpatient settings is advantageous.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotionally challenging situations.
