Job Summary
King School is looking for qualified applicants with High School or College Lacrosse coaching and/or competitive playing experience for the position of Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach. Highly motivated candidates possessing strong leadership and communication skills are encouraged to apply. The Head Coach will have responsibility for all aspects of the program and be the face of King Girls Lacrosse. The Head Coach will provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of their sport through coordinating, evaluating and implementing programs. During both practices and games, the Head Coach will execute effective coaching techniques to help the players optimize their athletic skill, acumen and attitude. The Head Coach will constructively collaborate with students and adults in a positive spirit, acting in the best interest of King’s student-athletes both on and off the field; displaying sportsmanship and citizenship at all times and demonstrating a commitment to King’s Virtues and Diversity Policy. The Head Coach will also be expected to uphold and promote the mission and philosophy of the King School and the Athletic Department, while following the rules set forth by the Housatonic Valley Athletic League and the New England Prep School Athletic Council.
Responsibilities and Primary Duties
- Serve as an inspirational leader and positive role model. Thoughtfully engage in best practices in motivating student athletes in the context of King’s Mission and Virtues.
- With a winning mindset, draw from a strong working knowledge of the sport to plan and facilitate daily, meaningful practices, and execute effective teaching/coaching techniques during games.
- Oversee the direction of the King Girls Lacrosse Program for the Varsity, JV and Middle School teams in collaboration with the Dean and Director of Athletics, mentoring assistant and Middle School coaches.
- Market and promote King Girls Lacrosse in the community. Work with the Dean of Athletics and Admission Office, providing outreach to prospective student-athletes. Support students’ efforts to pursue additional athletic opportunities.
- Work with College Counseling Office, supporting students who are recruited or interested in playing at the next level.
- Coordinate out-of-season and summer activities and training for student-athletes in program and recommend/develop enrichment opportunities for all grades.
