Middle School Mathematics Teachers

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Commit to ongoing professional development for continuous improvement.
- Develop rigorous and appropriate aligned instruction/curriculum maps, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in cooperation with school leadership and curricular resources used at VACS.
- Analyze student assessment data with school leaders to measure progress and use data to inform instruction.
- Collaborate in PLCs and Department Meetings to discuss student work, share best practices, plan events for joy and humor, and ensure student mastery of standards.
- Engage families in their children's education by building relationships and maintaining regular communication.
- Implement VACS's curriculum and utilize consistent classroom routines and procedures.
- Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use it to inform instruction.
- Form and maintain relationships with students' families through phone calls, conferences, and visits.
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students through tutoring sessions.
- Organize and lead an afterschool club or enrichment activity to promote students' academic and social-emotional growth.

Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with a record of personal, professional, and/or academic achievement
- Teacher certification completed or in process
- Commitment and experience working with students from diverse communities
- Determination to drive student achievement and set high expectations for all students
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area
- Ability to motivate, support, and challenge students in a student-centered, standards-driven classroom community
- Positive mindset and drive for personal excellence
- Solutions-oriented resiliency to respond positively and effectively to challenges
- Outstanding instructional skills driven by data and delivered through rigorous and engaging strategies
Compensation Package:
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes the following:
- The starting base salary ($60,000) is competitive and commensurate with experience.
- Additional stipend for hard-to-fill positions (Math, Science, SPED, Tech).
- Tuition Reimbursement program for Continued education ($3000/Year).
- Pay increase for continued education (B+15, Masters, M+30) in a related field.
- Longevity Pay for every three years completed.
- Performance-based bonus programs ($7,500 based on a board policy) to award teachers’ efforts.
- Reimbursement Incentive for Moving and Housing Expenses ($3000.00 one time based on a board policy).
- A School Sponsored Health Care Benefits Plan (100% of the Premium Paid by the School for the entire family).
- 403 (b) Plan for retirement with 5% School matching.
- Additional stipend for those willing to sponsor after-school clubs and enrichment programs.
- There is an additional stipend for those willing to work in Summer School, Extended School Year (ESY) for exceptional students, or Saturday School Programs.
