The Academic Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring young patients at Shepherd Center do not fall behind in school.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses patient needs and designs, schedules, implements and tracks school classes accordingly.
Serves as Shepherd liaison to the patients' parents and home school system.
Teach, guide and instruct patients/students in individual or group settings and communicates from a developmentally appropriate perspective Shepherd School information.
Document contractual agreements between Shepherd School and public-school systems and process billings per contract.
Document transcripts of work (academic and therapy) processed and forwarded to schools.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
