Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer
Purpose:
Set up, program and operate CNC machining centers to fabricate high precision and quality component parts used in the manufacturing department.
Responsibilities:
· Studies blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
· Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts required.
· Program and prove out all parts using 3D CAM software and digital inputs at machine controller.
· Create set up sheets and SOP’s for continued quality and repeatability.
· Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control according to guidelines and procedures.
· Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls and parameters as required.
· Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
· Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
· Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
· Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers and others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
· Maintain positive work atmosphere.
· Ensure safety requirements are followed to the most rigorous standards.
Requirements of the role:
· Must have 3-5 years of machining experience operating and programing various types of CNC machining equipment including mills and lathes.
· Must have demonstrated history and experience programming machining equipment using MasterCAM.
· Willingness and ability to learn solid works 3D design software in the future.
· Must be able to read blue prints, tolerances, manuals.
· Must be able to use precision measuring devices.
· Must be willing to spend time on other shifts aside from the one assigned to you.
· Must be willing to teach and mentor others, and be willing to learn new skills yourself.
· Must hold and maintain an excellent attendance record.
· Must be able to think outside of the box, come up with solutions and be a natural problem solver.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $34.00 per hour
