Position Purpose
The Senior Property Accountant will work with a team of 5 individuals to help keep the accounting and financial processes of MG2 Group up to standard and ensure accurate timely financial reporting and control.
Responsibilities
- Works with Accounting Manager to prepare monthly financial statements for distribution to other managers.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of assets and expenditures.
- Maintains daily subsidiary accounts tracking by verifying and analyzing transactions.
- Maintains monthly cash and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assists in the preparation of budgets.
- Assists in the coordination of annual reviews and audits.
- Assists in special projects as assigned.
- Assists junior accounting staff with questions as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to work in a Windows based environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and all Microsoft suite products.
- Proficiency with Appfolio, or another Property Management software.
- Experience with various Accounting/Finance software applications.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating flexibility and juggling various tasks.
- Ability to work in a small team environment.
- Sticks to deadlines and delivers budgets on time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 3-5 years of experience in a finance environment demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success.
- 2-3 years of experience working in Property Management/Real Estate Accounting.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required.
- Or equivalent years of experience.
