The Senior Weld Engineer develops, manages, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of a sound welding program through improved weld processes, design specification review, techniques, inspections, and safety procedures. The Sr. Welding Engineer will interact daily with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering including ARV partners and supporting departments to make welding judgment calls and improvements. This includes developing standardized practices and procedures on multiple welded assemblies up to and including combat ground vehicle hulls, turrets, and the qualification of material combinations, PQR's, and WPS's thereof to AWS and Military specifications.

- Support Weld qualification to MIL-STD-3040A, Steel TACOM Ground Combat Vehicle Welding Code 12479550, Aluminum TACOM Ground Combat Vehicle Welding Code 12472301, and applicable American Welding Society (AWS) standards.
- Establish and document welding processes in accordance with commercial and military standards and/or specifications indicated in the aforementioned.
- Directly supports identification, planning, creation, and release of welding and weld related policies, procedures, processes, work instructions, and forms both internal to Manufacturing and in support of inter-departmental BMS needs.
- Review welding procedures, processes, and documentation.
- Develops and executes weld qualification procedures.
- Creates, submits, and manages Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) documents.
- Works with management to identify problems and recommend resolutions of welding processes, issues and concerns.
- Directly interface with the product design engineering team to ensure design for process and manufacturing requirements are addressed and met.
- Develops or contributes to the creation of welding standards and specifications.
- Develops non-standard repair procedures (NSRP) for weld related repairs as necessary.
- Prepares and conducts weld engineering analysis of materials and procedures, engages in weld procedure and performance qualifications.
- Directly supports Quality Engineering, Design Engineering, Materials Engineering/Metallurgy, Welding Department for both ARV and its partners as it relates to weld processes, weld related defects (to include the assistance with repair/rework dispositions to address defects), weld sequencing, and any other weld related needs.
- Demonstrates problem identification or analytical resolution skills using statistical comprehension methods.
- Ability to interface effectively and efficiently with peers, employees, and management within and across the organization.
- Collaborates across the organization and with production, quality, senior leaders on major projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
- Expert knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Weld Engineering (Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Spray transfer mode (GMAW-Spray), Pulsed spray transfer mode (GMAW-P), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
- Ability to work with mild steels, armor steels (MIL-DTL-46100, MIL-DTL-12560), aluminum and aluminum armor, Sheet metals, stainless steel and titanium.
- Displays planning and organizational skills
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information and maintain confidentiality
- Understanding of equipment and technologies relevant to welding and weld engineering
- Ability to work as a contributing member of multi-disciplinary teams
- Solid knowledge with technical standards, manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories
- Ability to lead intra & multi-departmental working groups as needed in support of Essential Functions
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a self-motivated environment
- Capable of reviewing designs in a CAD system, including interrogating models and drawings as it applies to welding requirements.
- Computer skills with Window-based PC systems & applicable software (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)
EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science degree in welding and metallurgical engineering technology, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience equaling or exceeding five (5) years.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five (5) years of plant experience with extensive knowledge or manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with US Defense contracts and requirements required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification with AWS as one of the following or an equivalent/relevant certification:
- Certified Welding Engineering Credential (CWEng) or relevant certification.
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or relevant certification or relevant certification.
- Certified Weld Supervisor (CWS) or relevant certification.
- Knowledge of nondestructive testing scope and capabilities.
- Experience with translating EN DIN ISO welding to AWS and vice versa
- Experience with Teamcenter and Costpoint ERP system
- Fluent in German
- Master’s Degree in Metallurgy, Weld Engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience with DCMA audits
