The Second Shift Foreman provides a vital communication link with service technicians and with other integral departments in the facility. This position directs and supports the diesel technicians to ensure that all repairs are performed correctly and efficiently. The Second-Shift Foreman ensures the service department consistently maintains a high level of customer satisfaction and adheres to all company and safety policies and practices. Responsibility:
● Supervise technicians through guidance, support, and training, to ensure the work is
performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
● Ensure resources and equipment are available and utilized efficiently.
● Meet or exceed customer and company expectations and maintain projected workflow,
(ensuring deadlines are met and issues are properly addressed).
● Clearly collaborate with other departments, such as parts department and service
writers.
● Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive
maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and
alignments; keeping records
● Provide knowledge repairing, maintaining and inspecting medium & heavy duty diesel
trucks
Duties:
● Anticipate workload and assign employees accordingly.
● Monitors time on jobs, to ensure profitability.
● Ensure alignment of estimates and job costs.
● Oversee maintenance of tools and shop equipment.
● Maintains efficient use of shop space.
● Productively resolve employee disputes and issues.
● Ability to work partially on the floor completing small jobs such as DOT’s
● Maintain and set shop safety standards.
● Ensure quality standards are met.
● Performs other assigned duties by the manager.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Essential Work Experience):
● Grade 12 graduate or GED required
● Valid driver's license- CDL is desired but not required.
● Must have knowledge and experience in diesel mechanics
● Experience with shop safety, shop work practices, mechanical systems and use of all
hand and power tools
● Computer keyboarding skills and basic understanding of computer diagnostic systems is
desirable.
