Compensation: $17 – $20 per hour based on experience
Mission of Young At Art Museum (YAA): To enrich our community through artistic, interactive experiences for all ages which inspire creativity and encourage an understanding of the world in which we live.
Position Summary:
This position is part of ArtREACH summer camp program.
ArtREACH (Reconnecting and Educating homeless Adolescents through Creativity and Hope) is a nationally recognized initiative run by Young At Art Museum that provides free after-school arts, camp, life coaching, homework and literacy assistance to children and teens grades K-8, residing in Broward County emergency and transitional shelters. ArtREACH, a partnership with Young At Art Museum and Homeless Ed. Assistance Resource Team (H.E.A.R.T.) Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). ArtREACH educators facilitate art programs for students enrolled in this program.
This role involves delivering outstanding customer service to passengers of all ages, including children, teens, and adults. Responsibilities include effectively communicating bus schedules, assisting passengers as needed, and regularly cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the bus.
Job Duties:
- Transport children in YAA’s 12 passenger mini-bus to and from ArtREACH Camp at YAA in the Broward Mall. Pickup and drop off locations include neighboring schools and shelters.
- Transport students and staff in YAA bus to and from offsite fieldtrips.
- Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times.
- Follow all safety protocols, regulations and traffic laws
- Maintain daily transportation log for routes.
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
- Ensure safety of all students both on the bus and in the classroom
- Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
- Assist Art Teachers with facilitating art projects and other programmatic components.
- Attend team meetings, workshops, trainings and special museum events as needed
- Practice and implement positive behavioral management in a safe and emotionally healthy environment.
Experience Required:
- MUST HAVE THE PATIENCE TO WORK WITH CHILDREN
- 5+ years professionally driving children or adults.
- Experience interacting with young audiences and communities at-risk
- Strong communication skills, positive and energetic attitude, collaborative work ethic
Endorsements and License:
- Required High School Diploma or GED
- Required FL Driver License with clean driving record
- Preferred CDL License / School Bus and Passenger Endorsements
- Preferred CPR. Required if hired.
Must pass a background check to be employed
