Job Summary:
The Turbine Engineer provides steam turbine engineering support and disposition for the products and services including design solutions, redesigns to address equipment problems, field operations and development of process/procedures for use in the shop or field. The ability to make sound technical decisions/recommendations in time critical situations to support outages and field/shop activities is a primary component of the position.
Duties:
- Functions as a subject matter expert for all divisions with emphasis on turbine rotating and stationary components and sub-systems (valves, lubrication oil, hydraulic oil & controls, seal oil, etc.).
- Provides production support to the field and shop operations (Repairs & Open Clean and Close) Divisions.
- Analyzes and/or generates engineering drawings, specifications and related data as
required.
- Develops procedures and datasheets as needed for operations.
- Provides project estimates on costs, resources and schedules.
- Provides engineering oversight of field and shop repairs to ensure repairs are performed in a quality manner with acceptable margin for successful operation of equipment by customers.
- Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii,
clearances, tolerances, location of holes, etc.
- Reviews component designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving
engineering design and test problems.
- Directs integration of technical activities and products.
Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
- Prepares interim and completion project reports.
- Measures machine and parts during production to ensure compliance with design
specifications.
- Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs and/or drawings.
- Handles material review board responsibilities for operations.
- Oversees the welding program. Develops and certifies procedures, processes and welders as needed to support operations.
- Functions as a project engineer and/or project manager as needed to support operations.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
- Willing to attend on-going training to further professional development.
- Ensures communication with customers, suppliers, vendors and co-workers are professional and appropriate.

Education -
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Experience
- Preferred 5 years’ related experience
- Preferred Knowledge of power industry
- Preferred Experience with Steam Turbine repairs/parts

- Ability to read, write and speak in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers, vendors and the public

This position has limited direct supervisory responsibilities but often functions as an indirect supervisor with functional authority.

Pay: $68,713.16 - $82,751.33 per year
