KRFS is seeking an experienced agricultural professional to teach high school graduates the basics of horticulture and agriculture and to manage them in the field on 2 established gardens. The preferred candidate is capable of maintaining 2 quarter acre gardens @ 2 locations in Madison and Clark counties ( located 20 minutes apart from one another near Boonesboro).
Preferred candidate would be responsible for the planning, seed starting, planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, storing , packing, participating and organizing an existing and growing CSA, and doing this all while TEACHING young students the philosophy, protocol, and implementation of basic agricultural methods. The preferred candidate will be capable of producing and following a standard introductory curriculum, with assistance from KRFS staff, and training the students to be able to function in the field and carry this knowledge and skillset forward.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field preferred, however EXPERIENCE is paramount to academic education.
-10 years experience in Agriculture work is preferred
- Teaching experience or certification preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage and educate high school graduate students effectively
- Knowledge of agricultural and horticultural practices
- Familiarity with curriculum development for high school graduate level agriculture and horticulture courses
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $17.04 - $20.52 per hour
